“Researchers‘ Night”: Science with all the Senses

For the sixth time, the National Agricultural Museum in Prague has turned into a centre of agricultural science for one evening in the year. In this year 2022, researchers from various fields of agriculture, forestry and water management, as well as from food industry, showed how adventurous it can be. „Scientists’ Night“ was held there on Friday, September 30.

Demonstrations of scientific experiments, smell, taste and knowledge quizzes, children’s competitions, demonstrations of agricultural technologies, lectures given by experts, as well as workshops and guided tours were prepared for visitors at more than two dozen of sites. The participants really experienced this year’s „Scientists’ Night“ with all their senses!

In addition to senses’ experiences, which this year’s „Scientists’ Night“ was focused on, it was also commemorated the bicentenary of the birth of G. J. Mendel, in this year.

Forestry and Game Management Research Institute (FGMRI) also presented itself at the „Scientists’ Night“. As part of the presentation of FGMRI’s activities, there it was presented to the visitors how and why forest management makes sense, how science affects the work of foresters. Also, the information about common scientific and practical projects aimed to support of forest management in changing climate conditions was presented to the public, as well.

The program also included a lecture given by Ms. Dr. Monika Vejpustková. As part of the presentation of the project “New Forest in a different way”, there were presented the possibilities of restoring forests in large-scale calamity clearings by such a way, that these forests could better resist against climate change.
