We’re getting started…

Forestry and Game Management Research Institute (FGMRI)

together with Forest Cooperative of Municipalities (FCM), Přibyslav

held an initial project workshop

 on June 13, 2022

Following topics have been presented to the participants:

  1. Presentation of the project (Monika Vejpustková, FGMRI)
  2. Presentation of the project partner (Jiří Svoboda, FCM)
  3. Current progress of the bark beetle outbreak on FCM property (Štěpán Lukeš, FCM)
  4. Problems of afforestation of large-scale clearings with an emphasis on the use of alternative restoration procedures (Jan Leugner, FGMRI)
  5. Experiences with mapping specific habitats from the point of view of biodiversity assessment as part of the project solution, project EHP-CZ02-OV-1-015-2014 “Silviculture measures to increase biodiversity in forests in protected areas” (O. Špulák, FGMRI)

The project aim is to implement forest restoration on the calamitous clearings owned by FCM Přibyslav, using new methods that would lead to a higher species, age and spatial diversity of the new forest stands, which is a guarantee of higher stability and functionality of forest ecosystems. The result of the implementation will serve as an example of good practice for other forest owners, whose properties were affected by the bark beetle calamity.
